We are building a house in the middle of the family farm. House plans are located here: https://www.skuflow.com/house- plans.pdf. Feel free to bid on
- Septic Installation (3/3, 110′ per line, 1000 gal tank)
- Excavation and earth movement – basement dig, shaping the yard, moving earth etc, backfilling around basement walls
- Road work – need a spot in the road repaired, a few culverts, and the driveway cut in + ditched
- Gravel – dumped and spread
Please submit septic and excavation bids separately as those will be covered by the housing budget. Gravel and road work are direct pay via check.
This is located in Blount county off Ben Abbott Road (37803).
GRAVEL & ROAD NEEDS
a) 20 YARDS (specified yards by builder) dumped on the build site.
b) Gravel road refresh for ben abbott road. This is a private country road, light traffic. Solid road regularly maintained with a tractor and yard box. It’s been about 8 years since we refreshed the gravel. I’m not sure if it needs more gravel or needs to be hit with one of those gravel refresher machines that brings it back up to the surface.

c) referencing the image above, the 9th dot from the left is in front of a driveway coming down the hill. The driveway has a culvert under neath it. The ditch to the left of it needs to be dug out some and we’d like to drop a culvert under the road from the ditch out to that wooded section past the curve in the road and let it drain down the hill into the creek at the bottom. At this spot, the road is washed pretty bad so we need that cut to drain into the ditch.
d) light gravel road refresh. This section is a bid for my sister but I may pay for it. This is just a light gravel road. There is gravel there but it’s covered by dirt and grass to a depth of a few inches. This road bends around and connects with the main farm road in item e)
e) main farm road and driveway. This should be considered a “heavy load” road. There is a shale/gravel road from the beginning back to the barn. It is under 2-3″ of grass and dirt. From the barn up the hill around the curve to the build site is basically virgin ground. It’s been cleared with a forestry mulcher back in february. This is a catch 22 situation…. the driveway really is probably “house build money” but we need to get trucks to the build site as well. I’m not sure if we can work something out or not but here’s what i need. This driveway may need to be shaped toward the inside with a ditch along the inside. We’d need a culvert at the bottom to cut over into an existing ditch. No need to haul off dirt as there are plenty of places to push it. The driveway and road need to be able to support dump trucks, concrete mixers, trucks hauling lumber and a crane for trusses.
